Design Galleries Not To Be Missed In Paris

Happy weekend everyone and happy Friday! Also, today is the first day of February, a great day to celebrate life, right? Speaking design, as you may know, Paris is famous for it’s approach to interior design and decoration. Hundreds of private small and bigger galleries, with different styles and different concepts…

I have found some interesting design galleries to visit in Paris. These are several galleries that specialize in exceptional quality and design masterpieces.

The history starts in 1975 when 2 brothers – Yves and Serge created a crazy concept – concept store. They wanted to put tennis fashion and rare curated design objects under one roof. And they did it! Bensimon shops and their Tennis shoes are known worldwide.

Design Galleries Not To Be Missed In Paris #2: Temporary Exhibition Gio Ponti – Archi-Designer

This is the exposition absolutely not to miss for those who admire the midcentury modern design. Giovanni is one of most famous Italian masters of architecture. He worked for more than 120 brands, and created more than 500 pieces of design!

This is demonstrated in his three Milanese houses which were fully furnished in the “Ponti” style. The houses in via Randaccio, 1925, Casa Laporte in via Brin, 1926 and the last in via Dezza, in 1957 is an “expression” of his home design ideas. Gio Ponti was an Italian promoter of industrial design and introduced the idea of interior furnishing ranges produced as being a “sophisticated,” economic, “democratic” and modern. (Extract from Molteni)

But what’s the connection between Italian architecture master and France? The bonds connecting Gio Ponti to France arose at the beginning of his career, while the young Milanese architect was artistic director for the porcelain manufacturer Richard Ginori.

Did you know, that French describe Gio Ponti as “Italian Le Corbusier”?

After the war, the architect was very interested in the country’s political and economic situation. He also promoted “Made in Italy” abroad.

[…] The majority of the objects in our lives are created and characterised by industry […] – Gio Ponti.
