Matisse Inspired Interiors Moodboards

Art is one of the biggest inspiration sources when it comes to designing interiors and choosing the best colour palette. Paintings reflect different moods, colour combinations, styles.

One of my favourite painters, colour gods is Matisse. He was a XXth century French painter, a rebel visual revolutionarist. He used vibrant colours in his paintings, that finally made him famous and earned him recognition in modern art.

During my trip to France, Paris (I visited Maison&Objet trade show, you can read blog post), I made a detour and visited Lyon, the most beautiful city I used to live in.

One morning, when I was walking down the street to take my usual coffee and croissant, I saw the affiche that there was an exhibition of Matisse paintings and drawings in city’s art museum. I was so happy that I booked my ticket for the next day!

I ‘ve been always amazed by his expressive drawings. But I mostly appreciate his paintings collection. And you’ll see why.

I created 2 moodboards that had been inspired by his paintings. Both of them feature iconic furniture and accessories as Gubi, Tom Dixon and others. Which moodboard do you prefer more?

And here’s another moodboard inspired by Matisse painting, more calm and neutral colour palette, but it has some contrast for more dynamic interior.

Sometimes inspiration comes from the simpliest things. If you are having trouble imagining what colours you’d love to have in your place, maybe you could take a tour to an art gallery?
If you prefer saving money by hiring an interior designer, you can contact me and we’ll arrange the best e-design experience and you won’t have to worry about furniture and accessories that do not fit together.
